	2007 Ron Cockroft Award recipients The Ron Cockcroft Award Committee has granted the following persons this year's Ron Cockcroft Award to attend the Annual Meeting at Jackson Lake Lodge, Wyoming, USA: Ms Cilene Cristina Borges Brazil Dr Manabendra Deka India Dr Carlos Garcia Philippines Ms Margaret Gentz USA Mr Marcos González-Peña Mexico Mr Florent Lyon France Mr Nguyen Hong Minh Vietnam Mr Ricky Ratu Indonesia Dr Ümit C Yildiz Turkey The recipients were presented to the 2007 Plenary meeting where they received an Award Certificate from the hands of the IRG President, Dr Jeff Morrell. Mr Florent Lyon also received the Gareth Williams Scholarship Award (USD 1 000) for the best presentation by a student at the Annual Meeting. Please note that applications for the Ron Cockcroft Award to attend the IRG 39 meeting 2008 must be submitted to the IRG Secretariat by 15 December 2007. IRG Travel Award for Short-term Scientific Missions The following young scientists have been granted the IRG Travel Award recently: Ms Lili Yu, Beijing Forestry University, to visit University of Toronto (mission completed) Mr Anton Brandmair, University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde, to visit CIRAD in Montpellier Dr Luisa Borges, University of Portsmouth, to visit LNEC in Lisbon.
